Background
Infection control is a branch of medicine in which scientific knowledge is applied with an aim to prevent spread of harmful microorganisms and their associated infections to humans. There have been many examples of outbreaks and adverse patient events associated with suboptimal infection control practices worldwide. As medicine gets more advanced, so are new ways for patients to be infected with drug-resistant organisms. As a healthcare worker, we should equip ourselves with proper infection control skills in order to protect patients and ourselves.
